There is a lot of Surrogate Babies born to world-famous parents who got some help from other bellies to expand their family.

Here goes our shortlist of top artists, musicians and Hollywood stars who used IVF and surrogates along with the story of their Surrogate Babies.

  • Elton John was really ready for fatherhood at age 62, being a godfather to 10 other famous children, including Victoria Beckham’s sons.
  • Baby Zachary came into the world on Christmas Day 2010.
  • Elton John and his partner David Furnish first tried to adopt a Ukrainian boy but their application has been blocked as the country forbids same-sex couples from adopting.
  • John and Furnish ended up seeking help from a surrogate mother in Britain.
  • “We looked through a whole series of egg donor profiles, with the primary concern being family health history. Then our surrogate chose us from an anonymous profile — it’s her choice too.” Lucky choice considering she was carrying Elton John’s baby, but the couple says she was anything but interested in fame.
  • “We are overwhelmed with happiness and joy at this very special moment,” the couple said in a statement about the the birth of the 3.6 kg little one

  • When Urban and the 43-year-old Kidman wanted to expand their family again, they turned to a surrogate.
  • Baby Faith Margaret, who is biologically related to both Urban and Kidman, was born on December 28, 2010.
  • “Anyone who’s been in the place of wanting another child or wanting a child knows the disappointment, the pain and the loss that you go through trying,” Kidman said on Australia’s “60 Minutes”.
  • “Struggling with fertility is such a big thing and it’s not something that I would run away from talking about. We were in a place of desperately wanting another child. I couldn’t get pregnant.”
  • “No words can adequately convey the incredible gratitude that we feel for everyone who was so supportive throughout this process, in particular our gestational carrier,” the couple said.

Elizabeth Banks and her son Felix

Elizabeth Banks with her surrogate baby
  • On screen, the blonde bombshell is no stranger to pregnancy — she’s given birth to fictional babies on Scrubs and 30 Rock and also played a mama-to-be in What to Expect When You’re Expecting.
  • In real life, though, Elizabeth Banks and her husband, producer Max Handelman, tried to conceive for years without success — even after giving fertility treatments a shot.
  • Although she admitted that turning to a surrogate was “a big leap,” it was ultimately the right choice, which happily led to the birth of son Felix in March 2011.
  • “Our journey led us to gestational surrogacy: we make a ‘baby cake’ and bake it in another woman’s ‘oven,’” she wrote on her blog when she announced the arrival of her son.
  • “Once my focus became the baby and not the pregnancy, it was a very easy decision.”
  • “From that came two miracles. The first was meeting our carrier and her husband who were truly humbling in their decency and generosity. And the second miracle was the birth of our baby boy.”
